Neo Tokyo isn’t a definable place, but rather a realm inside our minds, evocative of neon lights,
punk revivalism, piercings, and a penchant for the erotic. Using this imagery, photographer NIU NIU takes snapshots full of darkness and whimsy, by focusing on the personas populating this fever dream version of Tokyo: 9 models wearing his creative collaborator Leo Gondo’s original jewelry designs.
NIU NIU’s exhibit: I don’t know the lyrics to this song, is named after the connection he formed with Leo Gon’do despite not being able to communicate in the same language. However, they still found a way to understand each other creatively. Just like songs we enjoy without understanding the lyrics, the duo found a cosmic connection through jewelry and art.
